Wedding Furniture Trends

Trends can come and go, but when it comes to weddings, one thing will always remain the same…your sky-high stilettos are killing your tootsies from dominating the dance floor, and you need somewhere to sit! But where to rest your tired bod? These days, high-top tables at the cocktail hour and chiavari chairs at the reception may still be a part of your day, but they are taking a back seat to much more trendy, fashionable, and lets face it – more comfortable seating at weddings.

Lounge Furniture    Ok, I’ll admit it – club-like lounge furniture, when not placed in a club-like loungey atmosphere, may bring up visions of a creeptastic bachelor pad. But, brides and grooms are actually creating club and lounge-like atmospheres at their weddings to bring in the cool, sleek vibe and party feel to their events. Sometimes it’s left for the after-party, and sometimes it’s found in one section of the reception, but lounge furniture has definitely found a place at weddings. Think white leather couches and ottomans with chic white or glass tables accented with hot pink pillows, your coaster favors and floral arrangements. Sounds like somewhere you might want to sit-back and relax while sipping on a cocktail.

Tufted Furniture    Unless you have avoided attending a single wedding in the past year and have managed to not notice a single wedding mag or blog, then it’s probably come to your attention that vintage is hot when it comes to weddings. One vintage trend we’ve seen is Victorian-inspired pieces made modern, and that is certainly the case with the oh-so-now tufted furniture craze. You know that furniture that looks dimpled with little buttons? That’s tufted furniture, and it’s surprisingly supportive (for grams and gramps) and super comfy – not to mention stylish at your wedding! You can go with a fuzzy velvet fabric or a cool leather look, and you can find tufted furniture in everything from sofas to chairs and even ottomans that can double as tables.

Modular Furniture    Modular furniture has certainly become more popular in the home, and thanks to that trend in combo with the lounge furniture movement in weddings, modular furniture has also found a seat at the wedding table.  Modular furniture, also known as multi-functional, is furniture that is made up of several pieces that can be arranged however you need to fit in your space (perf if the venue is on the smaller side). For example, you can have the pieces placed together to look like a couch, or you can separate them to have several different chairs for your guests. The best part about it is that it’s easy to find modular furniture that’s also loungey or tufted – double the trends, double the style!
