Vintage Travel Themed Wedding

One of the biggest trends making its way into weddings this year is everything vintage, and one of the most endearing and nostalgic ways to bring a vintage vibe to your wedding is by creating a vintage travel theme, particularly if you and your future hubby love to explore the world together, hand in hand.

Dust off the old classic suitcases your grandparents traveled with, before the days of rolling carry-ons, and add them to your décor in unique and inspiring ways. A suitcase can be used as a table for your vintage cake stand, or you can have your guests write you well wishes and have them place the cards in the suitcase. Or, one of my favorites, fill the vintage suitcases with beautiful flowers as imaginative decor on the place card or reception tables. And of course, you can’t have a vintage travel theme without beautiful wedding pics of you and your wedding party carrying vintage suitcases.

Vintage luggage tags are a unique take on the place cards. Instead of table numbers, have your tables named after different countries you have traveled to together, and have your guests pick up a luggage tag with the country they’ll be visiting at your wedding. Put the names on one side of the tag and a vintage map on the other, and bring the theme full circle by placing vintage globes on the place card table.

Bring the vintage travel theme into your day from the moment you take off on your journey to your happily ever after to the moment you bid adieu for your honeymoon. Send vintage invitations and envelopes that evoke the postcards and styles of yesteryear with vintage stamps, and end your wedding celebration by sending your guests with vintage style milk favor jars filled with a treat for their travels home.

Think about what you would take with you on your world travels. You would certainly need a camera to document your adventures, and you would need a good book for the plane ride across the sea. Vintage cameras and vintage books are both sweet ways to enhance the vintage travel theme. Use them to add the vintage feel to your pics or as unexpected accents to your décor on the tables.
