Grey and Yellow Wedding Inspirations

When it comes time to decide on your wedding theme, grey and yellow make a beautiful summertime color combo that plays perfectly into the hot to trot vintage and rustic inspired wedding trends. Not only are they just pretty together, but the muted grey with the splashes of yellow creates an elegant and delicate look to your entire wedding.

When it comes to the wedding day attire, dress your gals in vintage grey bridesmaids dresses, and throw in a pop of color with yellow bouquets and yellow heels! You can even bring the colors into your own look by donning yellow or grey shoes under your gown, or adding a grey or yellow sash or belt to your wedding dress. With wedding dresses in nontraditional colors becoming more and more prevalent, you could even find a grey gown for you! For your man, grey has become the IT color for men’s suits and is a fab way to get that hipster or vintage vibe. Opt for a tailored three-piece grey suit so he can throw off the jacket for a more cas feel during the reception, and a yellow tie or bow tie will bring the color scheme full circle.

Yellow flowers are pretty easy to come by, giving you options for sweet-scented bouquets and centerpieces in just about every price point. Yellow roses, daisies with their yellow centers, daffodils, dahlias and the little pom-pom looking billy balls will give you bright yellow flowers that will go perfectly with white or green floral accents. Give your guy a boutonnière with the same yellow flowers tied up in a pretty grey ribbon to complete his look, too!

Your sweets are also a great way to bring in the yellow and grey color scheme – I love this cake and how it uses polka dots, texture and chevrons to add the grey and yellow in a whimsical yet not overwhelming way. Offer your guests yellow lemonade in mason jars, add lemonheads to the tables as a little treat, or opt for lemon cupcakes. Yum!

For your décor, anything looks pretty in yellow and grey, so it’s really up to you what elements you want to bring into your day. Go for different shades of yellow candles on grey stands, or hang a yellow and grey banner along the wall of your reception. You can even add little yellow or grey wedding favors to the tables to bring an added dimension to the place settings. Use grey linens with yellow napkins, and add grey signs to your sweetheart table that say “Mr.” and “Mrs.”

What an inspiring wedding theme.Perfect for the summer season. But I think the bridesmaids dresses should have some yellow & white colour. Because only grey is looking somewhat dull.

This idea is completely unique and inspired! Too often, beautiful ceremonies are drowned in a whirlpool of colors, and while color can be nice, this minimalistic two-toning really puts the focus on the wedding participants. No one can mistake the focus of the wedding (the bride and groom who will stand out), and the entire event will have the look of an artistic photograph. Guests may feel almost as if they are entering a picture rather than attending a live ceremony, making this type of wedding one they will never forget!

I absolutely love the way weddings have evolved over the past years and I love this theme color. However, If it was my wedding, i would use more yellow than grey to make it look a bit more brighter. (my opinion) :)

I certainly loved the minimalistic approach and the sudden pop of color! Yellow and gray is such a great combo! I haven’t been married yet so the only time I use my color coordinating skills is when I’m planning what I’d wear for the day. Thank you for the inspiration, I shall keep this in mind when I’m preparing for my own wedding next year! :)

WOW! My favorite color is yellow <3 and I have always loved gray. The brightness, happiness of yellow and the classy, neutralizing effect of grey make it altogether nice to the eyes. I love the fact that this color combination is unique… Because I don't think I had ever come across this color combination! With all sincerity, I love it… Now I want my room to have this same color combination. Uggghh. Such eye candies. <3

That’s a nice color combination there. The contrasting colors complimented each other making it more attractive. And the shade of yellow is so nice, especially the flowers. I just thought that it could have been nice if the bride wore yellow shoes too, to make her more outstanding.:) And the photography is good too. It’s nice to ran across your blog:))

Wow, this makes me wish I had a wedding to plan! I especially like the lemon drops and lemonade ideas :) Is that wedding cake lemon inside? My sister would love the yellow roses! I’m sure grey with any other bright color that pops would be just as elegant, as well. :)

Grey and yellow sure are pleasing to the eye. The bright color of yellow flowers against a background of grey dresses would lighten the mood of any event. Very nice complimentary colors…. An interesting idea for my own wedding.

I like how you used two different colors that aren’t always used together, grey and yellow. I love the fact that the flowers are yellow and the bridesmaids dresses are grey, since it wouldn’t make sense if it is the other way round. However, it’s a wedding, so you might need to add something up to the bridesmaids dresses, they’re too dark for a wedding day, bridesmaids should always wear dresses that speak up for them, so that when you see a bridesmaid, you know that she really is one. Maybe add a little touch up, add one more color to the dresses, maybe white? It would also be much more different if every bridesmaid has her own bridesmaid dress design, however, it should be done with the same dress material.
The cake is also too brim for the wedding. you might want to add some frosting flowers on the borders, or something more romantic that would show the happiness of this day, I recommend you remove the zig zag design on the lower part of the cake, it isn’t really a wedding type of decoration. I love the set of plates, forks, spoons, and knives; definitely new, creative, and elegant.
However, I really do think you’re really talented and you definitely know how to think outside the box. Good luck, and these are amazing pictures.

Wow. I never would have imagined grey and yellow would look amazing as wedding colors! I am really into that bee/honeycomb centerpiece! I have never attended a wedding utilizing colors, textures, and shapes the way you have worked them into the perfect theme here. You definitely have a lot of creativity and I hope to see many more awesome ideas like this one from your site! I have a few girlfriends who are about to start planning their wedding and I will definitely be referring them to this site! Can those bee/honeycomb table favors be purchased directly from this site? Great work!

I never thought that those collors could be so good like that together. And the girls oh my god they look like heaven with that Yellow/Grey dress. Now the wedding will take a new taste and the Honey will start hours before honey moon. Here’s a new wedding’s style. This is what I call Creativity! OMG that makes me thinking to get married :D

I love that this theme takes advantage of the grey scale. It really brings out the saffron-yellow in a really simple, kind of dreamy way. The look of the whole theme is so rustic-chic.

Some of the ideas in the article are really cute. For instance: Who wouldn’t love shiny little mason jars for cups? I also love a good fondant cake. They have such lovely clean lines. I am crazy about the ruffled look of that second layer.

  14. Vicky P. says:

The yellow-grey theme is a nice play on the (meant to) ‘bee’ concept. The combination does convey an understated elegance. Sort of bold yet within boundaries. Appropriate for a bride who wants to inject her personality in the wedding without offending the senior entourage.

  15. Bianca says:

This is definitely a very refreshing idea! The marriage of grey and yellow will definitely leave a lasting impression on your guests! A lot of people have been doing the black and yellow theme for their weddings and I am not really a fan of that combination. Black is just literally too strong to pair with a strong yellow hue but this grey and yellow theme is definitely a home run! It’s new, the combination makes a lot more sense for a wedding motif, there’s a lot of inspiration that can actually come out from this color palette.

  16. Helena says:

having colors of yellow and grey in your wedding really looks elegant. It would be a lot better if the color yellow is the dominant color and accentuated by the color grey. Wedding day will always be extra special to the couple but nonetheless, we should not forget about our guests that they also need to be happy and feel the warmth of the special day, so they also need to see vibrant colors in the reception… so color yellow which is vibrant must be dominant than the color grey.

  17. Elizabeth says:

The devil is in the details, and the attention to detail in this wedding is perfection. I love the fact that everything seems so relaxed yet classic. The gray and yellow scheme evoke a vibe that makes me want to attend this wedding! The attention to detail (lemonade, mason jars, bee hive favors, pendants, and suspenders) appears to be effortless and makes the wedding seem chic and timeless.
